Technical supervisor — architecture review

Technical supervision for a logistics client

Problem

A client team was building a logistics backend and needed someone senior to review the architecture and the code without taking the keyboard away from them.

What I built

This one is here because supervision is real work, and because I would rather show the honest shape of it than pad a commit count.

The client had engineers. What they did not have was someone who had taken this kind of system to production before and could say, early enough to matter, which decisions would be expensive later. That is most of what senior engineering is once you stop measuring it in lines.

So the arrangement was deliberate: they built it, I reviewed it. Architecture and the data model first, because those are the decisions that are painful to revisit. Then review on the work as it went, which catches a pattern going wrong while it is in one place rather than fifteen.

I wrote almost none of it, and that was the arrangement. If you are hiring for authorship, this is not the entry to look at — the commerce platform is. If you are hiring someone to make a team of engineers better than they would have been alone, this is exactly the entry to look at. The client is not named here.

Result

Their engineers wrote it; I reviewed it. The value was in the architecture and the review, not in authorship — and I would rather say so than imply otherwise.
